Symbol of peace and prosperity
Olives have been part of our diet for the last 4000 years. Many sources point to Mesopotamia as the birth place of agriculturally grown olives. In many excavated sites, drawings depicting kings offering olives to their guests have been found. Olives, which became the symbols for friendship and prosperity, were dispersed along the Aegean and Mediterranean cost with the expanding armies of Alexander the Great. Later on the Romans and Phoenicians carried vessels full of olive oil to all corners of the world
Holy Olive Tree
It is believed that the Olive tree is Godly. “I have created olive, fig and human in perfect form” is a declaration taking place in holy books. The pigeon taking refuge in the Noah’s Boat carries an olive branch in its beak. Kekrops, the founder of Athens has described the olive tree as un-destroyable and continuously re-borning organism and has shown the world how to obtain the precious oil. Peace Goddess Athena showed the Athenians how to grow the olive tree. Many world religions consider figs, dates, grapes, olives as holy fruits of the world.
